The Tatum Residence is designed around a central courtyard, providing a welcome respite and separation from the busy street on which it sits. The courtyard, enclosed by an ipe fence and protected by a fabric shade structure, creates a multi-layered entry experience from outdoor to indoor as the ipe wraps in through the entry to create an interior screen wall.

The Quartz Mountain Residence is situated on a hillside lot in Paradise Valley, AZ. Walls of sliding glass open out to an infinity pool, framing views of Camelback Mountain to the south. A custom steel and walnut-wrapped fireplace forms the focal point of the open space plan. The exterior is clad in random-width steel panels and accented with slump block walls as a nod to the material and construction of the original structure.

The Straub Residence is a remodel/addition to an existing mid century post-and-beam structure. A series of semi-enclosed patios create an alternate entry experience and establish a dialog between outdoor and indoor space. The slump block walls and rough-sawn beams are true to the concept and detailing of the original design.

This remodel of an iconic mid century condominium began with sandblasting the block walls and grinding the concrete floor to reveal these materials' natural aggregates. The kitchen features a custom walnut butcher block countertop, complemented by a glass backsplash and stainless steel shelves. The small bathroom is made to feel more spacious through the use of a glass bath partition and the inclusion of natural light. Cabinets, fixtures and appliances were updated, while paying homage to the layout and proportions of the architect's original design.
